Félix Pacheco and Joe Woullard formed Cilantro Boombox in Austin back in 2010, working together on a one-off track. But soon that collaboration bloomed into a bigger band with a much larger sound. Cilantro Boombox mixes together rap, reggae, salsa, jazz, and everything in between, and they’ve quickly become a sight to behold onstage. Friday, May 1st is the second annual “Cilantro Boombox Day” (as proclaimed by the city of Austin last year), and they’re throwing a party that night at the Sahara Lounge. To get you ready, Pacheco is this week’s guest DJ on My KUTX, sharing the music that influenced him both as a kid in Venezuela and a musician here in Austin. Listen anytime below his playlist!
